ANNOUNCEMENT: Visit the new PreserveLA Forum!

I'm pleased to announce the launch of a new online forum, or bulletin board, for use by PreserveLA.com subscribers. It is PreserveLA's mission to serve as a resource for those interested in historic preservation, and to facilitate a greater sense of community between professionals and amateurs alike. One of the ways we attempt to accomplish this is by providing varying methods of online communication that encourage information sharing, collaboration, and discussion. The PreserveLA.com Forum is our newest communication tool, and has the potential to be the most effective.

However, I need your help. The success of the PreserveLA Forum will depend on the contributions and participation of people like you. Please help me populate the boards with news, information, and questions to be shared with a larger preservation community - even if its only taking the time to post one small item. There are over 100 individuals subscribed to the PreserveLA Weekly Update, and many more visit the site on a daily basis. Imagine if each and every one of you joined the Forum today, what an online community of local preservationists that would be!

I invite you to visit the PreserveLA Forum today, and hope you find it an useful tool for sharing information and learning more about your fellow preservationists!

New Preservation Books

The National Trust for Historic Preservation has announced the release of two new books that may be of interest to those involved in historic preservation in local communities. "A Self Assessment Guide for Local Preservation Commissions" and "Economics of Historic Preservation: A Community Leader`s Guide" are how-to guides intended to assist local communities and community leaders with strategic planning, and to help against intransigent opposition. You can order these publications (and many more) from the Trust's online Preservation Books catalog.
