HRRV's Legal Insights Newsletter
Now Available for Online Viewing

Welcome to the first electronic distribution of Legal Insights, HRRV's quarterly newsletter. Although we will continue to publish and distribute Legal Insights in the traditional manner (in fact, copies should already be in hand), our intent is to provide our readers with the option of reading it on their computer screens.

In our summer 2008 issue are articles on:

  • the emergence of environmental liability because of the significant increase in artificial turf playing fields
  • a recent decision by the New Jersey Supreme Court applying the limited duty of care rule in a hockey spectator injury case
  • the recent U.S. Supreme Court decision in Metropolitan
    Life v. Glenn
, which should serve as a warning of how closely courts will scrutinize certain decisions by insurers and their administrators in denying benefits.

This issue's Insurance Coverage Corner addresses the latest (and now successful) attempt by New York's legislature to eviscerate the "no prejudice" rule. (Governor Patterson recently signed the late notice legislation, which, when the issue went to press, was awaiting his signature.) The issue also contains our regular HRRV Decisions of Note, HRRV In the
Public Eye, and a listing of Scheduled Presentations.

As always, we hope that you find this issue helpful and welcome your questions and comments.
